Hi, I’m Mariel, webmaster and investigator for the Ghost PRO team.  In addition to my work with Ghost PRO, I am a teacher librarian, and archivist, and also a certified Reiki Master.  I strive to fill my life with meaningful friends and family that I may never be lonely, and to do work I love that I need never retire and stagnate.   I believe each of us is called to be stewards of the planet and that one must never, ever stop learning about our big, beautiful world, this wonderful gift from God.  My approach to Life is that the journey is the destination.

My hometown is Cleveland, Ohio, though I have lived in the South since 1st grade, love grits, and can drawl a “y’all” with every ounce of Southern charm intact.   However, I have over 400 years of Yankee in my blood, my ancestors having first stepped upon our nation’s shores in Salem, Massachusetts.  At great peril to their lives they spoke out against the injustices of the day. Those ancestors include Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island, Dorcas Horr, Salem's "confessed witch", and Minuteman Jonathan Barney, who was present to hear the first shots fired at Lexington and Concord.  My Scottish clan, Sinclair, is based at Rosslyn, a place well-known for paranormal and supernatural phenomena.  So, I guess the paranormal is in my blood.

Perhaps all this plays a key part in why I, quite literally, grew up with ghosts and thought everybody else did, too.  Our sometimes offbeat, always quirky family approached contact with ghosts and spirits in a matter-of-fact way. Their attitude was, “Ignore them, they can’t hurt you -- they’re already dead”, so I never doubted their existence or thought anything unusual about my encounters with them, which I remember since my diaper days.  In my child’s mind, a ghost was a curiosity to explore and a potential playmate. 

They say the good Lord looks out for fools and little children which is perhaps how I got through those childhood experiences so filled with paranormal phenomena relatively unscathed and objective.  Then, when I was twelve, we moved to an old house in the country. The house was indeed haunted --more so than what I had benignly experienced in the past--and my world was about to be rocked, ......but those stories are best saved for a dark evening around a cracking fire.

What I experienced in that house changed me forever in that I saw there was so much more to the paranormal –and this planet-- than I could ever have imagined.  Thus began my lifelong journey to understand my experiences and to help those -- on both sides of the veil --to do the same.
